SHOSHONE HISTORIC WALKING TOUR
EPISCOPAL CHURCH
110 West B Street
Services were held in Shoshone as early as 1882 by Bishop Tuttle. In 1899, this small church was listed as having 12 members. The late Mrs. Fred W. Gooding was very active in organizing the congregation. Services were held in the old rock school house, which stood on the site of the old high school. By 1898 regular services were being held. In 1900 a building was rented to hold Sunday School and infrequent Church services. In 1900 a concern for building a church increased and funds were organized. In the summer of 1902 construction was completed. The present building is basically the same. Work had to be done on the building after a fire in the 1960’s which was caused by lightning. The cracked bell sits next to the church as a reminder of that fire.
